International Project of Bartın University in which Bioethanol will be produced is proceeding

The first steps were taken for production of bioethanol within the context of the project carried out in collaboration of Bartın University with Pakistan Goverment College Lahore University.

Within the scope of project based Mevlana Exchange Program introduced by Board of Higher Education, the project which is carried out in collaboration of Bartın University and Pakistan Goverment College is continuing. As part of project in which vegetal wastes of Blacksea Region rhododendron, nutshell and nutstem will be used, Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nauman Aftab from Pakistan Goverment College Lahore University Industrial Biotechnology Institute came to Bartın. Aftab met with Bartın University Science Faculty Dean and Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ and compared notes about studies that will be conducted in project.
Dr. Aftab recorded that the project is a model pace in the direction of development of scientific collaboration between Turkey and Pakistan and said that “ In this project, by producing bioethanol via vegetal wastes of this region it is aimed to contribute to economy; and in this point scientific forces are joined with Bartın University.”
Aftab also mentioned his belief that they will obtain important achievements concerning preliminary considerations and the point arrived at in the project.

“More economic and more productive bioethanol will be produced by a new method”
Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Karadağ informed about project and said that, “With the project that will be conducted by scientists from Bartın University and Pakistan Lahore University, it is aimed to provide important economic inputs to both country. For this purpose, an environmentalist and sustainable energy source, bioethanol, will be obtained by using a new method. By this means, important outcomes will be obtained with more productive and economic alternative to existing bioethanol production method.”

“An important step about regional development”
The Rector of Bartın University Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun told that the project is an important step about internationalization as well as regional development and specialization. Rector Uzun talked as, “In the studies conducted in our university, we effort to contribute to improvement of our country starting from our region. Within this scope, the project that we conduct in cooperation with Pakistan Goverment College Lahore University is realized as part of project based Mevlana Exchange Program introduced by Board of Higher Education. In the project, rhododendron which is known as forest pest and from waste plants nutshell and nutstem will be used. In this way, I believe that an important contribution will be provided to our economy with bioethanol which will be produced by using wastes of all food and plants.”

Rector Uzun mentioned his happiness from successful improvement of the project and stated that, “I thank to all Board of Higher Education members through Board of Higher Education Head Prof. Dr. M.A. Yekta Saraç for their support and to Bartın Governor Nusret Dirim for their contribution. Also, I congratulate Project Coordinator Science Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ and his team along with Doç. Dr. Muhammad Nauman Aftab and his team as Pakistan side and wish them a continued success.”
